In mid-January we helped Peter Clarke finish off a mini-dead-hedge next to a footpath to protect a small orchard-space adjacent St. Bartholomew’s Church, Haslemere, created by The Den youth group. Later in the week the Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Trust (ARC) and COPSE assisted Puttenham Parish. We removed dogwood scrub and brash piles at Puttenham Common Orchard to make room for a fruit-planting in February and we finished-off a new pond near to the orchard-space. The ARC Trust conducted pond maintenance and tree safety works to School Lane Pond, an historic great crested newt breeding site next to Puttenham School.
