21st December, Treyford, West Sussex: Farmer Ed Mitchell arranged the planting of a Traditional-style Jubilee Orchard on headland within a field boundary, undergoing restorative farming-practices in the South Downs National Park. A big thanks to the HALOW project team, based in Guildford for helping Puttenham Parish, Surrey Hills Society and COPSE to plant one of our Community Jubilee Orchards on the very aptly named, ‘Jubilee Field’. HALOW, set-up in 2006, aims to nurture young people with disabilities and guide them towards fulfilled and happy lives. The team members who helped to plant six apple trees at the Jubilee Field orchard and two pear trees at the Hog’s Back Café Orchard, provided such great energy and enthusiasm. Thanks also to Christa Emmett of Surrey Hills Society for linking us up with HALOW.
