While the apple harvest was poor, pears seemed in good crop during 2019. A glut of pears were picked for Dylan's Pear Sorbet (http://www.dylansicecream.co.uk/2018/11/14/pear-sorbet/), at the beautiful Swan Barn Farm (left) and West Horsley Place Orchard (above) with it's adjoining Opera House (https://www.westhorsleyplace.org/news/garden-tales-from-nicky-webber-3).

Poor Apple Crop from some Orchards

Every year we take our apples to the Garden Cider Company. In 2018 0.5 ton of apples were collected, most collected from an orchard in Sussex, but in 2019 there were only two or three apples seen at this orchard. As fruit trees get older they become biennial and fruit trees can suffer from frost during flower development, as happened this year at RHS Wisley orchard (above) .
