Cranleigh Wassail is given Greenlight

Having cancelled the National Trust Swan Barn Wassail, due to concerns with Covid and the large numbers of local people who attend, COPSE were pleased that Waverley Borough Council felt we could arrange a small, low-key, but fun Wassail at Queensway Orchard Space, with Cranleigh residents.

We first met with Cranleigh School Duke of Edinburgh boys, who helped set-up the Wassail and planted two Webbs Cobnuts and a hazel tree in the Orchard Space. As the sun went down, led by Claire (COPSE), we drank mulled apple juice, read poems and Wassailed the fruit trees, to live long and prosper…

Hog's Back Fruitful Planting - Year 3

It's Year 3 of our ongoing work at the Hog's Back Orchard. COPSE partnered with the Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Trust (ARCT), funded by Puttenham Parish Council with trees donated through People's Trust for Endangered Species (PTES) Orchard Grant.

The task involved ARCT Team maintaining a great crested newt pond near Puttenham School at the foot of the Hog's Back; creating space for a new pond (behind group photo above) next to the Orchard; removing dangerous ash die-back; and planting PTES fruit-trees.
