-Great news! We are delighted to be working with Grayshott Parish Council to be part of bringing a Community Orchard to Grayshott!
COPSE are engaging with the local community to help create a vision for what this orchard might look like and how it could be used. We’ll be asking ‘How might you use the shared space?’ That might look like a forest school space for nurseries linked to the EYFS, or an outdoor classroom space for school children linked to the National Curriculum, outdoor activities for Scouts, or well-being and natural health activities to support mental health across the ages, conservation tasks or gardening clubs – the list is potentially endless! And let’s not forget life’s simple orchard pleasures like a space to read a book, or sit and chill under the canopy of a blossoming tree....? Spring is in the air, let’s look forward....

Dear Claire. We visited our allotment yesterday and met the smallholder who has kept geese and chickens on the adjacent land for 10 years. He told us he has been served notice to vacate the land to make way for the orchard which originally didn't appear to include this land. He also said he had met workmen planning to cut down the mature oak trees on his land and on the original area.. Can you please let me know if this is so. I can find nothing on your website about this. Regards. Ruth Taylor.

Thank you for your comment and email. We submitted our report to the Grayshott Parish Council at the end of the summer, which was also the end of our involvement with the proposed scheme. We have heard nothing since about how the Parish Council was going to proceed.
