In September COPSE received funding from Surrey Wildlife Trust, which included an engagement event and Biodiversity Net Gain study of a potential Community Orchard site at Roman Farm Open Space, Park Barn. We had a pop-up info stand at Park Barn Community Centre and had a positive response from local residents. COPSE demonstrated that BNG units could be gained by opening up a scrubbed-up plum orchard on the site. We also provided a talk to Shalford Orchard Group on orchard planting and maintenance, as well as providing and planting a tree for the new Community Orchard Space at Shalford Cemetery.
