A team of five Friends of Swan Barn Orchard volunteers spent several hours during the August Bank Holiday picking an early crop of apples from a lovely Orchard in Fernhurst, Sussex, where the owner was keen to clear the windfalls. Several of the trees were ready for picking, with Discovery and Bramley trees dropping fruit and bursting with fructose, following the recent hot, sunny weather. 170kg were picked and taken to the Garden Cider Company for the Swan Barn Orchard Wassail Account. Having opened early for apple deliveries, the bumper harvest this year will keep the Garden Cider (Craft Cider | The Garden Cider Company) team busy!
