In 2024 COPSE provided Claygate Pearmain apple trees for Claygate’s Allotment Orchard in Vale Road and Telegraph Lane, our first Nancarrow Wayward Orchard, with apples supplied by Tom, from Adam’s Apples (http://www.copseorchardproject.org/blog/archives/03-2024). In 2025 we provided a similar give-away to Haslemere and Witley Allotment holders, eight trees for NT’s Woolbeeding Orchard-scape and six trees for Northways Wayward Orchard, near Partridge Green, Wessex Sussex. Special thanks again to Tom Nancarrow of Adam’s Apples who provided us with 32 heritage apple trees for this year’s give-away using 2-year-old stock that will need to be thrown away to make way for new fruit trees.

COPSE winter maintenance tasks continued into March with pruning trees and strimming back the bramble and dogwood on Hogs Back orchard, to reduce the scrub's vigour. Then a week of manic maintenance before leaf-break: pruning at Liphook PC's Fletcher's Field; ARC Trust pruned and created a lovely hazel stake composter at John Steere's Enton Orchard, Witley; we helped Sam and Dave spread manure under the National Trust Swan Barn fruit trees, earthed-up root-stock and boxing-up cider; pruning and fence repairs to Grayswood Forest School Orchard; and finally pruning and meadow maintenance at Parson Green for Waverley Borough Council and residents. |
