In February COPSE did the rounds of our Orchard Spaces, pruning Lions Green Orchard with meadow-maker Hilary Neilson; Swan Barn Farm with National Trust Wednesday Team plus Wassail revellers; Watts Gallery with the fantastic Chris Sharples Gardening Team; Puttenham’s Jubilee and Eashing Orchards (on our tod); and WBC’s Queensway Community Orchard Space, with Ruth and the Wayne family. While there are pots for planting trees, there is limited funding for pruning and looking after established Orchard-spaces, so linking up other Groups and funding streams, such as our Wayward Wassail fund allows us to maintain the spaces we help to create!

Following a great Swan Barn Wassail turn-out on 17th January, COPSE was quickly able to put their newly raised funds to good use. With Lynchmere Common's management team doing the planting, donations of orchard-less fruit trees from Surrey County Council and several 3-year old trees from the fantastic Adams Apples (https://www.adamsappletrees.co.uk/), we planted a small community orchard at Imbhams Farm from our Wayward Wassail funds.
Also, special thanks to Dave Elliott of National Trust for timber off-cuts to protect the trees from sheep grazing and Imbhams Farm for allowing us to plant-up this space used by Surrey Hills and Rivers.
